Job listing UI case study

I came up with this case study after spending a fair bit of time job searching on multiple sites. As I was using multiple platforms I always found the interface to be underwhelming or rather visually unimpressive. I wondered what could be done to make these sites more appealing and if I would be able improve on the layouts that I had seen. I went on to see what site I felt had the most potential for a change and came across such a site and got to work with a theoretical redesign.

  • Thought Process

After deciding on the platform I wanted to rework. I spent time trying to figure what the site needed in regards to the space available and the information that was already provided. I wanted to make sure that redesign would make the website more visually appealing while also being less congested than the original site I came across. I came to the conclusion that the ideal “mobile version” of this site would have to prioritize accessibility and fluidity in a way that would make the job searching and filtering process as simple as possible.

  • Drafts/ Sketches

After looking over all aspects of the website layout I attempted to create a new wireframe for how the site would operate on a mobile device. My goal was to create something simple enough for the any demographic to utilize and understand. I chose to have allocate different parts of the original page`s contents in pages rather than having in tabs. I did this in order to simplify the layout as well as make the interface less dense.

  • Mockup

After creating the wireframe for the website, I felt that the platform would work better as an app. I then went on to create a design of the layout for the home page as well as a job listing in a way that would take note of all of the components that I believed were essential. I also did additional research into UI design trends in order to find a sense of what was being looked for in terms of design choices.
